Slowly Minute - Tomorrow World - CD [BC-043]
Slowly Minute is the solo project of 24-year-old Sapporo resident Takahiro Chiba. Takahiro blends crazy melodies that don’t line up with each other into playful electronics and live instrumentation - sounds of harps poking at pianos, beats that feel like the computer is drunk, vocals from a cartoon dreamland, and a strangely cinematic, often hilarious use of classic stock keyboards. With a youthful outlook, Slowly Minute leads on from Nobukazu Takemura's work with Aki Tsuyuko, giving a nod to the lush vocoder pop of Air, all the while seeming to let random chance run the show. Tomorrow World is an album of captivating and tender pieces, though the new recordings Takahiro just sent us reveal a surprisingly diverse musicality. Surely good things to come...
