Mice Parade - Obrigado Saudade - CD/LP [BC-042]
Obrigado Saudade is simultaneously introspective and inviting, bringing a pop warmth back to the foreground, with layers that reveal more and more upon each listen. Once again, founder Adam Pierce plays most of the instruments in his home studio, though a few more mics and compressors have been added since the first Mice Parade album. The album presents intriguing different ways to use a guitar, and the cheng only appears on one track ("Out of the Freedom World"). Kristin Valtysdottir from Iceland's múm flew over to New York to sing on a song (and actually appears on two). From her whispers in the verses to her entrancing singing at the end of the first track, we're left hungry for more. Doug Scharin (HiM, June of 44) also adds his touch (he's a drummer in the live band), along with Rob Laakso (Swirlies), Rob King, & Dylan Cristy.
